In Living Color: The Art of Plant-Based Inks with Jen McElwain-Whitmore
Includes all materials, guided instruction, and a keepsake—either a printed recipe (Night 1) or a sample of finished ink (Night 2). Attend one or both nights for a deeper creative experience.
Join artist and owner of Spellbound Books Owego, Jen McElwain-Whitmore, for a two-night journey into the living color of plant-based inks.
On the first evening, Jen will share her process for creating richly pigmented inks using botanicals and materials that can be easily sourced online.
The second evening opens into creative exploration—painting, drawing, and experimenting with the shifting, magical tones these natural inks reveal.
Participants will be invited to draw and paint from objects in the gallery, including mounted bug, insect, butterfly, and moth specimens prepared by Josh Marland, as well as the luminous moth artwork installation by Jill Hoffman.
Each night stands on its own, though those new to the process are encouraged to begin with the first. Participants from the first session will take home a printed recipe to continue their experiments; those attending the second will receive a small vial of finished ink to keep as a memento of color and transformation.
