The Bull Thistle Resident Artist pilot is about collaborating to grow our brands together: a dedicated studio where you create your work while helping shape Bull Thistle’s space and story. Step behind the door, refine with us, and share your work as part of the growing arts scene in Owego.
Bull Thistle’s mission is to make art more accessible for both appreciation and collecting. While our curation leans toward representational work—because we believe observationally rooted art can strengthen the artist’s voice and connect with a wide range of audiences—we welcome applications from artists in all media and formats. For this pilot residency, our selection will focus on how an artist’s path and vision resonate with Bull Thistle’s commitment to accessibility, community, and creative dialogue.
The Space
- enclosed back room about 18 × 13 ft. unfinished (~234 sq ft)

The Pilot
This is a 3-month pilot term at $225/month, with the possibility of a 3-month extension. As a Resident Artist, you’ll help finish and refine the back-room studio space, share your process (open studio, demo, artist talk), and maintain an active presence at Bull Thistle in Owego.
Access to Gallery & Store
Coordinated access to the main gallery and store available during non-business hours. Resident Artists may showcase work or engage with gallery/store visibility as part of programming.
Future Premium Option
We’re developing a premium tier add-on that includes dedicated gallery display space. While not included in the pilot just yet, the first Resident Artist will have priority when this option becomes available during the residency.
The Exchange
Help grow and shape Bull Thistle’s brand while we promote and grow yours. $225/month base contribution, your commitment, and shared visibility. Together we build something sustainable and meaningful.
