Color Lab No. 1: Four Tuesdays in January
Color Lab No. 1
Four Tuesday Evenings · January 2026
A hands-on course in the art and craft of color mixing, harmony, and contrast through guided experiments.
Instructor: Sheamus Burns
Discover how artists build and control color. In this four-week studio course, you’ll explore essential color concepts through structured exercises inspired by Arthur Wesley Dow, Japanese print design, and contemporary art practice. Each session offers a combination of demonstration, hands-on projects, and creative exploration.
You’ll learn:
• how to mix clean, confident colors
• how to build palettes with intention
• how to use harmony and contrast to shape mood
• how to understand value, chroma, and temperature
• how to create small color studies you can apply to your own work
Perfect for painters, designers, illustrators, quilters, photographers, and anyone wanting to deepen their relationship with color. No experience necessary — just curiosity.
